Melrose Park is a tiny family oriented suburb located 18km north-west of the Sydney CBD. This quiet residential area is set on the shores of the Parramatta River, to the west of the suburb of Meadowbank. It was named after the large housing estate which was established here in 1937, which was named in honour of aviator Charles James Melrose (1913-1936). Streets in the suburb also recall other aviators such as Sir Alan Cobham, Jean Batten and Amy Johnson.
In terms of recreational attractions, there’s plenty of waterfront bushland to explore, while Ryde Parramatta Golf Course is located just to the north. The local Melrose Park Primary School is just a brief walk away.
A train station and ferry wharf are located nearby in Meadowbank and Melrose Park also enjoys close proximity to Rhodes shopping and dining, just across the river.
